Understanding User Types and Default Access

Different User types come with different default permissions. Check out a quick comparison chart to understand which permissions can be edited for each type of user.

User Type Overview

Every account in AgencyAnalytics has a single account Admin, which sits above Staff and Client users. This is the top-level account owner β€” essentially the account manager and user profile tied to your agency's subscription. Staff and Client users allow you to restrict which data a given user can view, and which actions they can take within the account.

At the time your account is created, only the account Admin can access account information like your billing and subscription details, or account's settings, where important information like company name, address, language, and timezone can be updated. Access can be changed by updating permissions for a Staff user.

Staff Users

Staff users are intended for employees at your agency. Staff accounts enable your employees to sign into your AgencyAnalytics environment to work on reports, dashboards, and more.

To ensure data security and privacy, when creating a Staff user you will manually select which Clients they will have access to view and manage.

Client Users

Client users are intended for your customers. With a Client user account, they can sign in and view the dashboards that you've built for them. By editing their permissions, you can granularly change their access to dashboards and filters, ensuring a tailored experience for each Client users specific needs.

Can a Client user be changed to a Staff user, or the other way around?

It's not possible to change the type for a user profile. Instead simply delete the Staff or Client user first, then create a new one with the updated type.

How do I change the Admin user on my account?

The Admin user profile and login information are attached to your AgencyAnalytics account and subscription, and can only be changed by the existing Admin user.

The current Admin user would need to update the account profile and change the name, photo, email address, and password to reflect a new admin.
