This article covers everything you need to customize an existing report's design, work with the editor confidently using live or sample data, and keep your branding consistent across clients. AgencyAnalytics gives you full control over how your reports look.
Once you're set up, you can:
Edit the design of any existing report directly from the report editor
Customize section backgrounds with images, colors, and fit options
Create and apply Styling Themes to maintain brand consistency across reports and dashboards
Preview your report with live client data or sample data while you design
Open the Report Editor
To make any design changes to an existing report, start by navigating to the Reports tab and clicking the name of the report you'd like to edit. This opens the report editor, where you can view and modify any design settings.
Toggle Between Sample Data and Live Data
While designing a report, you can choose to preview it with either live client data or sample data:
Live Data - Ideal when writing analysis or commentary, since you can reference actual client numbers without switching between the editor and your integrations
Sample Data - Useful when you don't have live data available yet, or only have limited data connected
To toggle between the two options, open the report in the design editor and, in the top-left corner, choose either Live or Sample.
The editor will remember your last selection and use it as your default for future sessions.
Edit a Report Background
Each report section can have its own background image and color, allowing you to match the report to your agency's or client's branding.
Step 1: Head to the Reports tab, then open the report you'd like to edit by clicking its name.
Step 2: In the left sidebar, hover over the section you want to edit and click the Elipses to open a dropdown, then click Edit. The left sidebar will update to display the background editing menu.
Step 3: Click Choose Image to open the image selector. Choose an existing image from the library, or click Upload in the top right to add a new one. Click Insert in the bottom left to apply it.
Tip: Most report pages are 1400x1812 pixels, but can expand lengthwise depending on widget placement. If the image doesn't fill the whole page, try adjusting the image fit setting.
Step 4: After selecting an image, use the fit dropdown directly below to control how the image fills the section.
Choose from:
Contain | Scales the image to fit within the section without cropping |
Cover | Scales the image to fill the section, cropping if needed |
Fill | Stretches the image to fill the exact dimensions |
None | Displays the image at its original size |
Step 5: To set a background color, click the Background Color dropdown in the same menu, then select from the color picker or enter a hex code directly.
Step 6: To apply the same background image and color to multiple sections at once, click Apply Background To.
Step 7: Select the sections you want to update, then click Apply.
