Reauthorize or Reconnect a Data Source

This article covers how to reconnect or reauthorize a disconnected data source and how to remove a data source or integration in AgencyAnalytics.

Written by AgencyAnalytics Team

Why Do Disconnections Happen?

Data sources sometimes disconnect, and sometimes you need to remove one entirely. Disconnections can happen for a few reasons. The native platform may push changes that require all connected tools to reconnect, run security checks on authorized integrations, or change the connected user's permissions unexpectedly. Because AgencyAnalytics relies on authorized API connections to display your Client data, reconnecting quickly keeps your Dashboards and Reports running without interruption.

To help teams stay on top of connection issues, all Staff and Admin users are subscribed to in-app notifications for disconnected data sources.

Reauthorize Authenticated Connections

You can reconnect an authenticated (oAuthentication) data source from the account-level Data Sources page. When one account is reconnected, all data sources under the same authorization reconnect together.

Step 1: Click Data on the left sidebar to open the account-level Data page.

Step 2: Find the disconnected data sources. The status column notes which data sources are currently disconnected. Click the column title to show all disconnected data sources at the top of the table, or use the filters at the top.

Step 3: Click the ellipsis menu to the right, then click Reconnect and follow the authorization prompts. All data sources under the same oAuthorization will reconnect once authorization is complete.

If one account (e.g., an MCC or Meta Business Manager) is connected to multiple Clients, clicking Reconnect re-authenticates all of them in one step.

Reconnect a Data Source From Your Inbox

You can reconnect a disconnected data source directly from your Inbox. Admin and Staff users are notified when a data source disconnects in AgencyAnalytics.

A red dot on the Inbox indicates a fresh notification. These notifications display the date, data source and Client name for the disconnected data source.

To quickly reconnect, go to the Inbox on the right side, then click the Reconnect button in the notification itself that appears when you hover over it, then follow the prompts in the authorization window.

Clients connected to the same integration account will also be reconnected upon successful reauthorization.

Reconnect a Non-Authenticated Data Source in a Client

Data sources that do not use oAuthentication (for example, sources that require an API key or manual credentials) must be removed from a Client first, then reconnected.

Step 1: Click any Client on the Client page to open it, then click the Data tab at the top of the page.

Step 2: Click the ellipsis to the far right of the disconnected data source, then click Remove.

Step 3: Click Connect Source in the top right, then search for and click on the data source you just removed. Follow the authorization prompts again to finalize the connection.

Remove a Data Source or Integration

You can remove a data source (also called an integration) from a Client in two ways: from the Client's Data tab, or from that integration's dashboard.

Remove From the Data Tab

Open the Client, click the Data tab, click the ellipsis to the far right of the data source, then click Remove. From this same tab, you can also edit or connect an integration.

Remove From the Integration's Dashboard

Step 1: Open the Client that contains the integration you want to remove. Then head to the dashboard for that integration, via the Dashboards tab.

Step 2: Click the settings icon at the top right of the dashboard. In the window that appears, go to the Settings tab and select Manage.

Step 3: Select the ellipsis, then select Remove.

FAQ

Why didn't all of my accounts reconnect for a data source?

If the data source requires a specific API key or manual credentials, it must be reverified manually for each Client. Only platforms that use oAuthentication will reconnect the data source across Clients.
