AI Tracker

AI Tracker sends your tracked queries to your selected AI platforms and analyzes the responses to see whether your clients' brands are mentioned or cited as sources. In the AI Tracker dashboard, you can view this data over time, giving your team a measurable "share of voice" in AI-generated answers, similar to how a traditional rank tracker shows where you land on a Google results page.

With AI Tracker, you can:

  • Track prompts across multiple AI platforms, such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity

  • Track prompts across multiple locations, including country, state, province, city, zip code, postal code, or county

  • Organize prompts by topic

  • Compare AI responses over time to see when a client started or stopped being mentioned or cited

  • Add AI Tracker metrics to your dashboards and reports

AI Tracker is a paid Add-on with a free 14-day trial period. When you confirm the trial, you are agreeing to be charged after the trial period completes, unless you cancel. Only Admins and users with billing permissions can begin add-on trials.

Before You Start

  • You need to open the specific Client you want to track AI content visibility for before you can enable AI Tracker

  • Only Admins or Staff users with Billing permissions can start the AI Tracker trial or purchase the add-on

Enable AI Tracker and Start Your Free 14-Day Trial

You can enable AI Tracker for any Client and start a free 14-day trial that includes 250 credits. Here's how:

Step 1: Open the Client for which you'd like to track AI content visibility.

Step 2: On the left sidebar of the Client dashboard, click Connect Data Source.

Step 3: In the pop-up, click the AI Tracker card, then click Enable in the next window.

Step 5: On the confirmation screen, click Explore AI Tracker to jump to the dashboard where you can add prompts for tracking.

Once confirmed, the AI Tracker add-on trial is added to your account, and you can start tracking your clients' AI-generated content visibility.

Add and Remove AI Prompts

Prompts are what AI Tracker sends to your selected AI platforms. Here's how to add them:

Step 1: On the AI Tracker page, in the Prompts section, click Add Prompts in the top right. If this is your first time adding prompts, the button appears highlighted at the center of the page.

Step 2: Use AI to generate multiple prompts, or manually type in individual prompts.

Step 3: Add a Topic to a prompt to organize your prompts.

Prompts are added to tracking immediately and are reflected in the credit usage shown on the right side of the Prompts window.

How Prompt Credits Are Calculated

The credit tracking box on the right side of the Prompts window updates in real time as you add or remove prompts, locations, and platforms. At the top, it shows the total credits being added for this session, along with the number of prompts, locations, and platforms added, since these act as credit multipliers.

Example 1: 5 prompts, tracking 1 location, on 2 platforms.

5 Prompts x 1 Location x 2 Platforms = 10 Credits a Week
10 Credits x 4 Weekly checks in a month = 40 Credits a Month

In this example, we are tracking 2 prompts for 3 locations each across 4 separate Platforms.

2 Prompts x 3 Locations x 4 Platforms = 24 Credits a Week
24 Credits x 4 Weekly checks in a Month = 96 Credits a Month

At the bottom of the credits box, you'll see your total credit usage across all Clients as a fraction of your total available credits, or credit limit (ex. Usage after adding 96/250 credits)

If you can't add an AI Prompt, it's likely you're at your credit limit. You'll need to purchase more credits or remove some prompts in your account to add more.

Prompt Breakdown

In AI Tracker, each combination of 1 query + 1 AI platform + 1 location counts as a unique prompt.

Query

a single phrase (e.g. "Best reporting software for agencies", or "top SEO tools")

AI Platform

an AI search platform, like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity etc.

Location

the country, state, province, city, zip code, postal code, county, etc. the prompt results will be filtered by.

Tracking multiple AI platforms and/or locations for a specific query creates additional prompts in AI Tracker and uses more credits.

Examples:

  • Best reporting software for agencies + Toronto + ChatGPT = 1 prompt created

  • Best reporting software for agencies + Toronto + Calgary + ChatGPT = 2 prompts created

  • Best reporting software for agencies + Toronto + Calgary + ChatGPT + Gemini = 4 prompts created:

Best reporting software for agencies : Toronto : ChatGPT
Best reporting software for agencies : Toronto : Gemini
Best reporting software for agencies : Calgary : ChatGPT
Best reporting software for agencies : Calgary : Gemini

Reminder: Adding additional AI platforms and Locations on top of 1 query + 1 AI platform + 1 location will create and track multiple prompts.

Purchase the AI Tracker Add-On

If you're ready to move past the trial and purchase AI Tracker, the account Admin or a Staff user with Billing permissions can add it to the subscription.

Step 1: Click your User Icon in the bottom left, then click Billing in the menu.

Step 2: Under Usage, click Update to the far right of AI Tracker.

Step 3: In the pop-up, click the Plus (+) icon to increase the number of credits you'll need across your account per month, then click Update Subscription to end your AI Tracker trial and purchase the add-on.

In your account, the summary on the right will update to display the total prorated amount for today. Please note: The summary values of zero in the image above do not accurately reflect the cost and pricing.

Adding a Topic to Prompts

You can now assign a topic to a prompt after it's created, or reassign one if the wrong topic got applied. Here are the steps to adjust them:

Step 1: Go to the Client.

Step 2: From the Dashboards tab, click SEO, then AI Tracker.

Step 3: Scroll down for the prompt whose topic you'd like to change.

Step 4: Scroll to the right, then click Ellipse, then click Update Topic.

Step 5: Pick from the dropdown and Save.

Track Historical Prompt Responses and Performance

It’s easy to track historical prompt responses and performance, right in AI Tracker.

Compare AI responses over time to see exactly how they’ve shifted, then pinpoint the moment a client started (or stopped) getting mentioned and cited.

Step 1: Click a prompt.

Step 2: Adjust the date to see the prompt response and performance on that date.

Step 3: Click into History to track the response performance for that prompt over time.

That’s the proof clients ask for. Show them the before-and-after, tie it to the optimization work behind it, and demonstrate the impact in black and white.

FAQs

What does the free trial include?

The 14-day free trial of AI Tracker includes 250 credits. This can be used across multiple clients.

When the trial ends, your subscription will start being billed for 250 credits/month unless you choose to cancel the add-on.

Once it is paid, billing is prorated based on how far into the current billing period it falls. Accounts will be billed only for the days remaining in the current cycle. The next billing cycle will require payment of the add-on in full.

What if I run out of credits during my trial?

The trial only includes 250 credits. If you're loving AI Tracker, you can end the trial early to start standard billing and purchase as many credits to use as you'd like.

How much does AI Tracker cost?

250 credits for $25 - That's $0.10 per credit. Top up with more packs anytime.

AI Tracker is billed in credits, which are sold in packages of 250. Users can keep buying $25 packs incrementally.

What’s a credit?

One credit = one prompt query, tracked on one AI platform, for one location.

Your total credits per week are multiplied by the number of platforms and locations you track.

Example:

  • 1 Prompt query x 1 AI platform x 1 Location (ie. “Best reporting software for marketing agencies” x ChatGPT x Toronto) = 1 credit

    • Checked weekly = 4 credits

  • AI platforms and locations are credit multipliers

    • 1 prompt query x 2 AI platform x 2 Location (ie. “Best reporting software for marketing agencies” + ChatGPT + Gemini + Toronto + Calgary) = 4 credits

      • Checked weekly = 16 credits/mo

Why is AI Tracker a paid add-on instead of part of my plan?

AI Tracker is a new product, not a feature folded into your existing subscription. Every prompt it tracks runs real queries against AI platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity, and those queries cost AgencyAnalytics money every week they run. Credit-based pricing keeps that cost tied to what you actually track, so you're not paying for platforms or locations you don't use.

How do I cancel my AI Tracker free trial?

The account Admin (or a Staff User with Billing access) can cancel the free trial at any time from the Add-on Billing page.

Step 1: Click your profile icon in the bottom left, then click Billing.

Step 2: Click Add-ons at the top.

Step 3: Click Cancel on the AI Tracker tile, then Confirm in the pop-up.

What if I don't use all of my credits in a month?

At the end of the month, unused credits are lost. Users can increase or decrease their credit packs as needed.

How does the AI prompt suggester work?

It reads client details, such as the website, to generate general prompts. You can then keep the prompts you like, or 'x' them off to remove.

Can I add AI Tracker performance metrics to my dashboards and reports?

Yes! You can add AI Tracker metrics and filter the data by AI platform, location, and topic. Add them like any other Widget, from the right sidebar in the Dashboard or Report Editor.

Do the AI responses AI Tracker surfaces take the details of my clients into consideration?

Not currently. AI Tracker uses a "headless" approach, meaning it communicates directly with the AI via a back-end API rather than using it as a person would. That means the answers it captures are more general than what a specific user might see, and that the AI has more historical context for.

Why are my ad-hoc prompt results different from what I see in AI Tracker?

AI is non-deterministic. Every time you ask the same question, you'll get a slightly different answer. That's expected behavior.

AI Tracker accounts for this by running prompts repeatedly over time and surfacing patterns across many responses. What you're looking for isn't an exact match every time. It's consistent trends: are you being mentioned regularly? Are certain sources being cited repeatedly? Is your visibility improving or declining?

Think of it less like traditional SEO rank tracking, which pulls a fixed result from an algorithm, and more like a pulse check. No single response tells the full story, but the pattern across many responses does.

Why are prompts that include a city name or "near me" showing as Not Visible?

It's expected that prompts like this will show as Not Visible, since prompts written as "best X in [city]" or "X near me" will trigger a local or map search, rather than an AI Overview on search engines. Try more specific prompts like:

Does the Hilton New York Times Square have a pool?
Is the Hilton New York Times Square overpriced?
Can I bring pets to the Hilton New York Times Square?

If you do want to focus on a region, add the region or area as a location to the AI prompt, rather than including the city in the prompt itself. That points Google at the right area without turning the whole query local.

Why are some of my Google AI Overview prompts returning zero data?

This is generally related to a prompt that includes a specific location (e.g., Best SEO agencies in Boston). When a prompt includes a location, Google treats it as a local search instead of a general one. For local queries, Google shows a local pack (a map with nearby businesses) rather than an AI Overview. Since there's no AI Overview to find, the tool correctly returns an empty result. This isn't a bug; it's just how Google handles local intent.
