How to set up a custom domain

First, navigate to your White Label control panel by clicking your name in the upper right hand corner of your dashboard, and selecting "White Label"

Alternatively, this is also accessible through the sidebar

Once in the White Label control panel, scroll down to "Login/Domain"

First, specify a "site name". The name that you enter here will be used as the title in the browser tab for your custom URL.

Next, you can choose to create either a custom sub-domain or a custom domain.

Custom Sub-Domain

The benefit of creating a custom sub-domain is that it can be setup with just a couple of clicks, and requires no configuration on your end, through your web host. Custom sub-domains are SSL/HTTPS capable.

The main drawback is that custom sub-domains are technically not 100% white labeled.

Custom sub-domains are in the format of YourDomainName.ClientSEOReport.com.

While it doesn't use the name "AgencyAnalytics", it does use the name ClientSEOReport.com, which is a generic domain that is owned by us. Most clients won't notice that fact but, if they're tech savvy enough, they may be able to trace that domain back to AgencyAnalytics.

To setup a custom sub-domain, simply check the radio button for "Custom Sub-Domain", enter the name that you'd like to use in the box provided, click save, and then allow up to 10 minutes for the new site name to propagate.

Custom Domain

We highly recommend creating a full custom domain. These really put a nice polish on your customer facing white-label presentation, and just like custom sub-domains, they offer native SSL/HTTPS functionality.

The drawback of using a custom domain is that they do require a little bit more configuration to get setup and working properly.

To create a custom domain, tick the radio button for "Custom Domain", and then enter the domain name that you'd like to use in the box provided. Note that this URL should be in the format of www.yoursite.com (or .net/.org/.ca etc) and that it must be a URL that you actually own.

Then, follow the instructions provided in the interface to configure the domain through your webhost. Be sure to save your changes before you exit this screen.

For your convenience, here are the instructions that you'll find in the interface:

Please follow these instructions to point your domain to the client access area:

  • Create a 'CNAME' record using your desired hostname (eg clients.yourdomain.com)
  • Point the CNAME to 'cname.clientseoreport.com'
  • Wait an hour or more for it to propagate
  • Once complete, accessing this domain should redirect to your client access area

Note: Creating a redirect is NOT the same thing as creating a CNAME record.
