Dashboard Templates

Dashboard templates let you save a dashboard section's design so you can reuse it across clients without rebuilding it from scratch. This saves time when you want to apply the same layout, widgets, and branding to multiple dashboards. Templates saved as section templates can also be used as report pages.

  • Create a new dashboard section template from scratch, a premade template, or by copying an existing section

  • Edit an existing template's design

  • Apply a saved template when creating a new dashboard section

  • Delete a template you no longer need

Create a Dashboard Section Template

Step 1: From any page, click Templates on the left sidebar, then click Sections at the top of the Templates page.

Step 2: Click Create Template in the upper right corner to launch the template creation pop-up.

Step 3: In the Template pop-up, click Report as the template type, then choose either Document or Landscape for the orientation of the template.

Step 4: Choose how to start your section template. You can start fresh with a clean slate, use a premade template, or copy an existing section or template.

Step 5: Name the new template to help identify it in the template table and when you apply it in the future. Click Continue in the bottom left to move on to the design step.

The template editor works the same as the dashboard and report editors. Open the right toolbar, then drag and drop widgets to create your design.

The template editor autosaves your changes as you make them, shown by the indicator in the upper right corner.

Use a Dashboard Template to Create a New Section

Dashboard section templates can be used when creating a new dashboard section for a client.

Step 1: From within a client, click the + (Add Dashboard) button in the upper left beside Custom to open the section creation menu.

Step 2: In the creation pop-up, choose Template as the starting point for the dashboard section.

Step 3: Search for or scroll to the section template you'd like to use for this dashboard.

Step 4: Click the circle to the left of the template to view a preview of the template on the right. When ready to proceed with the selected template, click Continue in the bottom left.

Step 5: Enter a name for the new dashboard section, then click Continue in the bottom left.

After a few moments, the new dashboard section will be created from your selected template, and you'll be taken back to the dashboard editor where you can make any required changes or additions.

Edit a Dashboard Template

Step 1: Navigate to the Sections tab within Templates, search for or scroll to the template you want to edit, then click the template name to preview it.

Step 2: Click Edit Template in the upper right to open the editor.

The editor autosaves your changes as you make them, shown by the indicator in the upper right corner.

Changes you make to a template only apply to future uses. Existing dashboard sections built from that template will not reflect the changes.

Delete a Dashboard Template

Step 1: From the Section Templates page, search for or scroll to the template you wish to delete.

Step 2: Click the checkbox to the left of the template name.

Step 3: Click the Delete button at the top.

Step 4: In the pop-up, confirm that you want to permanently delete this template from your account. Once deleted, templates cannot be recovered.
